For over 20 years, SelfLube has been manufacturing components for the mold and die industry. It all began when owner, Phil Allor purchased some used machinery and began making a product called a "self-lubricating wear plate", hence the name SelfLube. A wear plate is a component that is used to guide and control linear motion where there are heavy forces involved, which is often the case in a large die or mold. The self-lubrication came from graphite, a solid lubricant, which is similar to the lead of a pencil.
Over the years that SelfLube has been in business, it has expanded its product line many times in order to meet the needs of its customers. It has gone from just making wear plates to making nearly 7,000 different part numbers. "Though its product line has greatly expanded, the product that started it all, is still being made and is popular as ever with our customers, " explains owner Phil Allor.
The term "wear-plate" is somewhat generic. There are actually 10 different types, inch and metric, steel and bronze, with or without graphite. SelfLube makes them all. Its line includes the:

SelfLube will be featuring this line at this year's FabTech show, which will be held at the McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. The show is scheduled for November 14-17 and is North America's largest metal forming event.
SelfLube is a US based manufacturer of precision mold and die components such as bushings, gibs, wear strips, parting line locks, lifter slides and related items - about 7,000 standard part numbers in all, many of which are self-lubricating. The company sells directly to build shops throughout North America and Canada, which results in both better pricing and better customer service.
